FC : Prendre un peu de temps pour moi, du recul, et comme vous l’avez deviné, rejoindre Oracle Racing pour leur campagne de Défense de l’America’s Cup. La Volvo sera en suspens pendant cette période. Et je pense que c’est le moment idéal pour venir sur la Coupe de l’América. Les Américains m’attendent à San Francisco en août pour l’étape des AC World Series.

FC : L’équipe est déjà faite. Je ne peux pas arriver et prendre la place de quelqu’un. James Spithill AUS, qui est le barreur attitré, est un régatier de talent. Il est jeune. Il a une véritable expérience du match racing. Il a appris le multicoque en deux temps trois mouvements. C’est incroyable cette capacité d’adaptation. Je vais avoir un rôle interne de consultant et probablement de second barreur. Les Américains auront deux multicoques. Je partagerai la barre du second bateau avec Ben Ainslie GBR (quatre médailles olympiques, dont trois en Or, NDLR). Ce sera vraiment très excitant…

A Naples à ses côtés il y aura un mélange de vétérans et de nouveaux: Tom Slingsby (tacticien), Kyle Langford (règleur de l’aile), Simon Daubney (voiles de tête) et Simeon Tienpont (numéro un).

Wing Spar Limits Refer amendment 2.03
Each Competitor may build, acquire or otherwise obtain a maximum of six Wing Spar sections, provided: Refer amendment 4.03
(a) any Wing Spar section less than 12m in length that is part of a wing whose length from mast base to wing top is less than 22m, is not counted in this limit; Refer amendment 11.01
(b) a Wing Spar section is included in this limit when the Competitor or its representative takes delivery of the section; and Refer amendment 5.05
(c) a Wing Spar section shall be deemed to be new if more than 50% of its mass is replaced. Refer amendment 5.05
(d) A wing spar extension for a AC45 Yacht acquired by a competitor from ACRM and used solely on an AC45 Yacht shall not for the purposes of Article 29.6 constitute a wing spar section. Refer amendment 11.02
The sum of the distance from MWP to the wing rotation point, and the distance from the wing rotation point measured parallel to the wing datum to:
(a) C12 (per appendix D), shall not be greater than 40.000 m for the tall wing.
(b) C9 + 0.500 m (per appendix D), shall not be greater than 32.700 m for the short wing.
AC72 art 10.3 : Further to Protocol Article 29.6, the Wing Spar shall be capable of being disassembled into two separate sections.
The lower Wing Spar section shall be at least 18.000 m, and no more than 19.900 m in length. For the purposes of this rule, fittings shall not be considered part of the Wing Spar.
An AC72 Yacht shall be capable of being assembled and disassembled by a Competitor as follows:
(a) within 24 hours, wings shall be disassembled and packed in shipping boxes of the following outside dimensions:
(i) one box of 20.000 m x 5.000 m x 2.500 m;
(ii) additional boxes that will collectively fit within 5.000 m x 1.500 m x 19.000 m no one of which shall be larger than 5.000 m x 1.500 m x 9.500 m;

Oui, mais alors comment on fait une petite aile de 32,7m avec des sections de 18m au minimum ?
